Actually putting information to good use is the ultimate step in the information management process. It is the reason for all the preceding steps of acquisition, evaluation, categorization, storage, and retrieval.
Information is applied when some action requiring information is carried out. This often takes the form of making a decision of some kind. For example, let’s say you feel like going out to dinner and want to try out a new restaurant. Finding and consulting your list of restaurants you would like to try, then making a reservation at that restaurant, then finally dining at the restaurant and enjoying the experience is an example of information application.
