Faith

Faith means to believe an idea is true without evidence.

Faith is a fundamental requirement of many religions. For example, Christianity requires its adherents to believe in the existence of an omnipotent god based on faith. If compelling evidence for such a being were ever produced, it would eliminate the need for faith.

Faith and irrationality are essentially synonymous, as they are both terms for forming a belief without supporting evidence.
