A strength is a capability of some kind. It can be physical, cognitive, or a combination of both. It is similar to a virtue, but slightly different, because a virtue, by definition, is a trait or quality deemed to be morally good and thus can only be applied toward a good end. A strength, on the other hand, could be applied toward an evil end.
For example, intelligence is a strength rather than a virtue because it could be applied equally to solving some social problem or devising a clever scheme to cheat millions of people.
Some traits are both virtues and strengths.
